Boys/Girls Divisions Rules and Regulations

2025-2026 Season

 

Equipment Requirements

 

Mantatory Equipment

  • Hockey helmet (CSA-approved) with full face covering.

  • Hockey gloves

  • Hockey stick

  • Shin pads

  • Athletic supporter/protector

Footwear

  • Clean, dry running shoes only.
  • No open-toed, wet, or outdoor footwear allowed in the gym.
  • Cleats or other pinned footwear will not be allowed.
  • Supportive footwear is strongly recommended.

 

Goalie Equipment

  • Goalies must wear full equipment.
  • Equipment will be provided if needed.

Game Ball

  • A hard orange ball will be used.

Note: Players without proper equipment will not be allowed to play.

 

 

Season & Game Format

 

Game Structure

 

  • SENIOR GIRLS & BOYS A-B: 3 10-minute periods which are run time.

  • JUNIOR GIRLS & BOYS C: Two 12-minute periods which are stop time.

  • Faceoffs will take place after every stoppage.

 

Special Rules

  • Floating blueline offside: All divisions

  • No-touch icing: Boys Division A only

  • Sudden death overtime: 5 minutes if tied.

    • 3 on 3: Senior girls & boys A-B

    • 4 on 4: Junior Girls and boys Division C

  • Shootout: If still tied after overtime. Game will end as a tie if there is no winner after three shooters.

  • Timeouts: 1 per game.

 

Team Requirements

  • Minimum of six players to start a game, including goalie.
  • No games during the Winter Break.

 

Penalties & Infractions

 

  • Minor Infraction: 2 minute penalty

  • Unsportsmanlike Conduct:

    • 1st offense: Warning

    • 2nd offense: 2 minute penalty

  • Fighting:

    • Immediate ejection

    • Possible suspension

  • High Stick:

    • 2 minute penalty for contact above shoulders.

 

Attendance Requirements

 

Boys Divisions:

 

  • Divisions A & B: Must play 6 regular season games  to quality for playoffs.

  • Division C: Must play in 5 Regular Season games and attend a minimum of 2 practice sessions in order to quality for playoffs.

 

Girls Divisions:

  • Senior Girls: Must play 6 regular season games to qualify for playoffs.

  • Junior Girls: Must play 5 regular season games  and attend a minimum of 1 practice session in order to quality for playoffs.

 

General Attendance Rules

  • Anyone that comes after the end of the first period will not be allowed to play.

  • Unexplained absences will be noted.

  • If a goalie cannot attend:

    • Senior Girls, Division A & B Boys: The team may use a goalie from a younger divisionIf this option isn't available, they may use another goalie in that division only if approved by the opposing team. If both options fail, then they must put one of their own players in net.

    • Junior Girls & Division C Boys: Teams must put one of their other players in net.

 

Player Attire

 

  • Must wear Islamically appropriate athletic wear
  • League-issued jerseys are mandatory. Those who do not wear their jersey during the game will be given a 2-minute penalty.
  • Loose-fitting bottoms only.
  • No tight or transparent clothing.
  • Jewelry must be removed before the game.
  • Footwear:
    • Only clean, dry running shoes.
    • No slides, cleats, or open-toed shoes
    • Change out of winter boots in the dressing room.
  • League officials may ask players to change inappropriate or offensive clothing.

 

Spectator Guidelines

 

  • All spectators are expected to follow the same conduct rule as players.
  • Boys Divisions & Junior Girls: Open to all spectators
  • Senior Girls Division: 
    • Only female spectators allowed.
    • Male spectators must exit the rink area & stands during games.
  • Do not coach or advice players/referees during games
  • Promote sportsmanship, brotherhood, and sisterhood.
  • Refrain from any disruptive or innapropriate behaviour.

 

Player Code of Conduct

 

  • Respect the rules, officials, and opponents.
  • Arrive on time (late arrivals after 1st period will not be allowed to play)
  • Communicate abcenses to your coach ahead of time
  • Repeated unexcused absences may result in a removal from the league.
  • Coaches/volunteers must notify the league if absent (24 hours in advance)
  • No swearing, smoking, or vaping during DIBHA events.
  • Always maintain self-control and promote team spirit.

 

Registration, Waitlists & Refunds

 

  • No refunds once regular season registration is closed.
  • Exceptions will be made for:
    • Medical Issues
    • Unforseen personal circumstances
  • All registration forms must be submitted before the deadline.
  • If the league is full:
    • Join the waitlist
    • Players will be contacted based on waitlist order.
  • Refund requests will be evaluated case-by-case.

 

Authority

 

  • DIBHA organizers reserve the right to overrule any coach or volunteer at any point during the season or playoffs.
